10 Steps to Wellness

  1. Restore your sleep cycle

Sleep problems have been known to contribute to diabetes, obesity, anxiety, depression, immune suppression, substance abuse, strokes, heart disease, accidents and mood disorders.  To greatly improve the quality of your sleep cycle, start by creating a bedtime ritual which includes avoiding electronic devices as they stop the brain’s natural production of melatonin, reading before bed, avoiding caffeine after 3 pm, drinking Dream Tea and letting go of events from that day.

  1. Exercise

Sweating for at least 20 minutes a day will help your body release the toxins and acids that have built up over time and also improve your mood and focus throughout the day.  Exercise as simple as a morning yoga sun salutation or a brisk walk will get your energy flowing and positively influence your thought processes and help you maintain a positive and motivated mindset.

  1. Hydrate

Dehydration is one of the main causes of fatigue and your water consumption greatly affects your overall energy levels. Be sure to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water daily.  For example, if you weigh 140 lbs, then drink 70 oz of water daily.  This will flush out your system and detox your body so that your liver can process any toxins that have accumulated.  Try to drink fluoride free alkaline water that is lukewarm or at room temperature as cold water shocks the digestive system and causes fats to solidify in your stomach.

  1. Cut out anything that is toxic to your body

A key foundation on the path to wellness is to cut out toxic substances and acidic stimulants.  This includes alcohol, cigarettes, fast processed foods, soda, artificial sweeteners, energy drinks, coffee, refined sugar, refined carbohydrates, saturated fats and trans fats.  Anything that causes dehydration, limits your breathing capacity or burns out your adrenals will greatly hinder your energy system. Drinking more water and maintaining a diet that is rich in nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables will nourish your body and notice a great change in your daily energy levels and the quality of your sleep cycle.

  1. Cut back on the plastics

More and more studies are revealing the negative effects of plastic on human health, and not to mention, the environment.  Instead, try using a water filter at home with either a glass or steel bottle to cut back on plastic bottles and search for BPA free products.

  1. Alkalize Yourself

A highly acidic diet will leave you feeling sluggish, heavy and tired even after a good night’s sleep.  Most people combat this lack of energy with caffeine, coffee, sugar, and energy drinks which perpetuate the vicious cycle of being highly fatigued during the day yet wired in the evening from all of the acidic stimulants.  This ultimately leads to a poor sleep cycle which results in even more stress and fatigue.  By increasing your intake of leafy green vegetables and other mineral-rich alkalizing foods you will feel incredibly energized and glow from the inside out.

  1. Establish a regular meditation practice

Daily meditation induces relaxation and is one of the best ways to improve your overall life quality.  It reduces stress, improves concentration and elevates your mood Basically, it’s like having a charger for your mind and body. This influence ripples outward to positively affect other aspects of your life and encourages a more mindful and balanced approach to your daily activities.

  1. Breath Work

With the high amounts of stress we have in our everyday lives, most people chronically hold their breath which leads to increased anxiety, brain fog, and muscular tension.  Throughout the day, keep checking in with your breathing pattern, scan your body to see where there is muscular tension and consciously relax.  Exhaling vocally with a sigh also helps to release any tension and restore your breathing rhythm. Maintaining your breathing flow will lead to an increase in energy, lower stress levels, and higher mental clarity.

  1. Be aware of Electromagnetic Frequencies

The electromagnetic frequencies emitted by household electronic devices such as phones, computers, microwaves, and fridges can cause a number of adverse health effects.  Unless proper precautions are taken, these frequencies can lead to headaches, fatigue, stress, anxiety, attention deficit, and sleep issues.  To combat this, try electromagnetic frequency protection pendants that contain deep earth minerals, such as The Ascendant, and also walking barefoot on grass or sand to pick up negative ions from the earth.

  1. Practice gratitude

Giving heartfelt thanks and setting positive intentions can reprogram your thought processes and in turn significantly improve the quality of your life.  Practicing gratitude throughout the day helps to maintain an optimistic attitude which leads to less stress, better problem-solving skills, and overall happiness.
